Cregagh Dance Group Celebrate Funding Boost

The Diamontes dance group in East Belfast have become the latest recipients of funding from the George Best Belfast City Airport Community Fund, administered through the Energy for Children Charitable Trust.
The young people who attend weekly classes at the Cregagh Community Centre will benefit from the purchase a new sound system, rhythmic ribbons and specially designed branded tops for the group to wear.
The dance group was formed in 2004 specifically for young people with disabilities, many of whom have Down's syndrome. Diamontes dance teacher Diane Montgomery said:
"This funding has made such a difference to our young people with new special clothing helping everyone to feel part of the group, giving them a sense of belonging to something worthwhile. The rhythmic ribbons also give everyone help with their balance and co-ordination".
The Energy for Children Charitable Trust was set up by the local natural gas industry but is now supported by a variety of local organisations - including George Best Belfast City Airport.
Ruth Kimbley from Belfast City Airport reflected: "Having visited the Diamontes dance group I've seen firsthand the enjoyment that the children and volunteers get from being involved in the group and we are delighted to be able to assist such a worthwhile organisation. "This is the latest initiative the airport has funded through its Community Fund and we continue to seek projects throughout East Belfast and North Down that will assist the wider community that the airport serves."
Every penny raised by the Charity goes directly towards helping local disadvantaged children, and this is made possible because Phoenix Natural Gas covers all administration costs. To date the Energy for Children Charity has helped over 3,000 needy children and is continuing each month to provide further funding for projects throughout Greater Belfast.
