Just one of the reasons for Energy Managers from across the Greater Belfast business sector to come together today at the annual ‘Gas Energy Management’ event, hosted by Phoenix Supply and Invest Northern Ireland at Belfast Castle.

David Strahan, General Manager Phoenix Supply Ltd comments;

“In the past 12 months alone we estimate our industrial and commercial customers have collectively saved around £7 million in energy costs by converting to natural gas as opposed to remaining with their original fuel source.  This sum, significant in its own right, is before we take into account the considerable efficiency savings many businesses report when converting to natural gas.”

Strahan concluded; “Further reduced costs delivered by increased energy efficiency can mean the difference between success and failure for many businesses.  We understand the pressures many of Northern Ireland’s businesses face in today’s increasingly competitive global marketplace and we are pleased to have worked with our customers to help deliver these savings.”

Today’s ‘Gas Energy Management’ event principally focuses on local industry and commerce contributing to ‘a sustainable environment through reduced carbon emissions and innovation’.  Many businesses and organisations have further added to their energy savings by applying innovative solutions to their energy needs through the availability of modern high efficiency natural gas equipment in the market.

Tracy Meharg, Managing Director of Innovation & Capability Development, Invest NI also commented at today’s event:

“Sustainability has become one of the most important global issues today. It is no longer seen as purely an environmental requirement, but also as an excellent opportunity to improve competitive performance, take advantage of new technology and deliver more sustainable products and services – demand for which continues to grow substantially.  “Invest NI is committed to helping innovative firms maximise the potential of this growing global market which over the next 20 years is estimated to be worth many billions of pounds.”

Today there are 14 energy managers and their organisations recognised for their contribution to innovative energy management through their conversion to natural gas.
